About Me

Educational History:

Graduated from Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, Virginia in 2002.

Degrees and Certifications:

Graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 with a B.S. in Anthropology and B.A. in Religious Studies.

Graduated from the University of North Texas in 2010 with a M.S. in Academic Librarianship.

Graduated from Syracuse University in 2016 with a C.A.S. as a School Media Specialist with Teaching Degree Attached.

Current Position:

I started teaching at Vernon Middle School in September 2018.  This is my second year working at Vernon Middle and my second year in the Vernon Parish School District.  I currently teach two classes of sixth grade English and Language Arts.

Previous Position:

I first began working in the public school system at Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.  I worked as a library assistant under Michelle Colte.  While, working at Daniel K. Inouye I discovered my love of teaching and decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree, mostly concentrating in school libraries.  When I first arrived at Vernon Parish, I took on a substitute teaching position, and was shortly contacted about a full-time position at Vernon Middle.

Family Information:

I have been married to my husband for eleven years and have two daughters, one is ten and the other is seven.  Both of my daughters attend Pickering Elementary in Vernon Parish.  My family and I have two pets, a dog named Gitmo and a cat named Smokey.

Personal Information:

I love to read and explore!  Whenever my husband and I have a chance we like to travel, go hiking, or spend time with our daughters.  I love to do Crossfit in my spare time as well as work on puzzles and arts and crafts.  I also enjoy gardening.
